Dana’s view on Insane Asylum Bangs

Nothing looks fresher than a cool set of  “insane asylum” bangs.  I just ran across an editorial layout in British Vogue where the model has the most excellent short bangs.  I saw them again (super short bangs) while trolling through runway looks for SS2013.  I’m sure they’ll soon be the next big thing.  Bangs have been a topic of conversation in the salon with the debut of Michelle Obama’s new bangs at the inauguration.  Of course the bangs that we are going to start seeing are not the long, chic bangs of 2012, but a fresh, new “punk-ish” looking razored bang.  I have also been referring to these as Jack-O-Lantern bangs and have been liberating both my stylists and clients with them.  Sometimes just changing your fringe style can change your whole look, while allowing you to keep your cherished length.  Cutting a short bang can also help make the growing out process more fashionable because the focus will be on the fringe.  Like Nike tells everyone… “Just Do It!”  I always encourage you to try something new.

I love this look but I have a couple of concerns. 1. Can you be too old for this 2. I have a large forehead. Are short bangs a bad idea? 3. Who do these bangs look best on?

    Thanks!

I don’t think you can be too old for it. A large forehead can actually work in your favor, they don’t have to be too short. What you want is to have them an inch to an inch and a half above the eyebrows. The answer of who can wear it, anyone that wants to have fun and show their spirit! Thank you so much for your comment and good luck on trying new bangs! Dana
