The undercut has definitely evolved over the past 30 years. Many would relate the undercut as something mostly “alternative” or “punk rock” people would wear back in the 1980’s. You know, the bottom half of the head shaved, sometimes a Mohawk, or either of the previous styles paired with bright fashion hair color, sometimes all of the above. Well everyone, the undercut has been refined. You see it everywhere; on the streets from the Mission District and NOPA to the red carpet. From short crops on the sides, to long hair with shaved sides and so on. It’s a very versatile look both men and women can wear it. Not only is it fashionable and edgy, but it is also pretty practical. For those of you with a ton of hair looking to remove some weight, or do something fun for our oh so warm San Francisco summer without going pixie short, the undercut would be a great choice!
